So i take my mom out to the range today to shoot several of my lighter and managable weapons, all was going well until I pulled out my trusty..until now, Ruger mk 3 22/45, i load up a mag, chamber a round and....nothing, not even a click. Big problem.

The trigger pull doesn't feel right and the sear doesn't seem to be engaging the hammer, i can feel the spring tension up when i #### it but i can also feel it let go as it carries forward. Ive had the whole thing apart twice right down to the bare bones and there doesn't appear to be any damage. I re-assembled it according to the manual and still nothing. Has anybody had this problem or know of a solution, or am I going to have to send it off to ruger.

The gun is less than a year old and has only had about 1000 rounds through it, if that.

Did you put that whacky sear spring back in correctly?
Had the sear pin dropped out of its slot/hole on one side....Its not that obvious but is enough to screw things up.
Is the hammer strut sitting correctly in the mainspring housing?

I believe I've had this very same problem. One of the steps involved in putting it back together is to turn the gun upside down and swing the housing into the grip, and it turns out I hadn't caught the hammer strut in the proper place on the mainspring housing.

Try taking it apart again (I had a tough time doing it after I put it together wrong, but eventually managed) and putting it back together following the steps exactly. The hammer strut should be pointing toward the ground when the gun's upside down, and it should be behind the bump near the "top" of the mainspring housing when you swing it into the grip.

Unless I'm on crack. Which is possible. It's late. Or early, depending on how you look at it.

That's the ONLY single drawback to owning one of these lovely 22/45's. That critical step during the re-assembly stage. Imposter and super7 suggested it right. Get back to us and let us know if that was the situation.

When I re-assembled my 22/45 incorrectly, it exhibited the symptoms that you suggested. No click or bang ! I pulled it all apart and then re-read the instruction manual and then I was super careful about repositioning that little strut / spring / assembly and I was good to go.

Hope this helps you out.

I too have had the problem... the 22/45's are the only pistol I've experienced putting it back together and have it not work ;)
