If I want to pick up a sharp shooter .22 pistol for pure accuracy purposes (.22 plinkster kind of stuff) which is better 22/45 target or hunter. I know both will be accurate however is the extra cash on the hunter going to make it easier to hit my target. Right now I'm running a M&P22 which is a fun noise maker but hard to be accurate with. Let me know you thoughts.

Thanks!
Doug

I'm just wondering if a 5.5 vs 6.88 barrel makes a difference when aiming or if it's marginal.
The other option is getting the 22/45 lite however I have read that from a precision application the light is harder to aim and it's nicer to have a heavier gun like then hunter for precision.

Some do prefer the heavier models but with no appreciable accuracy difference between models I'd pick whichever tickles your fancy and have at 'er. There isn't much to say because we aren't talking about S&W vs Ruger vs Hammerli vs Pardini vs High Standard etc.

If you are going for real precision, the big blocky sights on the target model will give you a crisper sight picture. If you are doing more dynamic shooting like speed steel, then the fibre optic sights on the Hunter model will be easier and faster to pick up. If you are shooting indoors, the fibre optic sight will be ok for precision shots, but in bright conditions, I found it gets so bright, it washes out a bit so precision shots get a little tough.

Good info thanks! I know a couple people at the range who would have both so I'll see which one I like best.
Would be nice to have some Black Friday deals on them.

This is what I wanted to say, try em both. I have had Two 5.5 Bull Barrel Target MKII's, they are great guns.
If you can, try a Smith & Wesson Model 41. They cost more, but are a fine example of a very accurate pistol.

Pick up a Buckmark, my super cheap Camper model is far more accurate than my 22/45 ever thought of and much better trigger. I bought both used and the Buckmark was $50 less as well.

That's odd. I have multiples of Buckmarks and Ruger 22/45's. I didn't find any inherent difference between any of them. The biggest difference (for me at least) was always the style of sights I used. Sadly with my aging eyes, a nice red dot give me the best results lol.

Here's a pic of some of my .22 toys I took out to a range trip last year :)
