Ruger #3

I have a Ruger #3 in .45/70 I'm thinking of putting a scope on it, but with the shape of the barrel I can't find the right mounts.
Has any one tried using 2 different ring heights to compensate. I would rather get the correct mounts if there out there.

They sell bases for the #3. Weaver, are by far the most common you will find. Ruger also made bases for them. With the proper bases in place standard rings work perfectly. You can order them from wgp, or brownells.
