I have the opportunity to buy a very good condition 357 blackhawk hand gun from a family member and they just want fair price.

my question is whats it worth?

Thanks

3 screw or new model? New Model: If in very good condition blued you $4-450 seems to be a really good price but lately they are listed at $500. $500 plus for stainless. Barrel length doesn't really affect price (much)

3 screw: worth a bit more than the new model but depends on condition

New model ORINGAL Blackhawk 357, selling for 400 plus, last auctions brought 425, to 450. Selling private at 400 with you doing the pick up and or shipping costs would be fair to all.

The 3 screw has 3 slotted screw heads in the frame, while the new model has 2 pins. The 3 screw model must be put on half #### to unlock the cylinder to facilitate loading and unloading, whereas the new model's cylinder is unlocked by opening the loading gate. The old model has no transfer bar which can easily be seen below the firing pin if you ease back the hammer on the new model. When you bring the 3 screw to full clock it gives a clickty-click sound, which some of us are fond of, while the new model just makes a single click as the hammer locks into the full #### notch.

Old Model Super Blackhawk . . .

Ruger Vaquero, built with the same lock work as the New Model Blackhawk . . .

Sorry that's the best pic I have of the Vaquero, but unless you can enlarge it, I doubt that you'll be able to see the pins.
