I was just at Reliable here in Vancouver & got to fondle (LOL) the new Ruger 357 with the 4.2 inch barrel Nice gun!! looks like a shrunken 44 mag which I already own(not shrunken) Seriously it looks & feels great in the hand, I was just in to pick up some glock parts & ended up putting my name on the list for the second order they are getting in, the first order was all presold can hardly wait. It will be nice to shoot a wheel gun that doesn't cost a buck a shot!!

Got one on order to. I have a blued 4.2 inch arriving in August at elwood epps for me. Although i havnt fondled one yet, i plan on doing a whole lot of it when it arrives. Was the one you played with stainless or blued? How was the finish?

I got my SS 4.2" coming in the mail tomorrow! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that she'll be "the one". I purchased a SS 4.2" from a different dealer less than a month ago and had to return her as the fit/finish was simply unacceptable (to me). That sucked big time.

how much is Reliable charging for one?

Reatail is 581$ or 660$ with tax at elwood epps.

and they just got their shipment a few days ago. mine is already being transferred. wheee!!!!! i'm guessing most are sold by now anyways - those 4.2" buggers are popular!!! no thanks to S&W refusing to make anything in that class :D

Received my 4.2" SS recently from Roger at Shooters Choice in Arrowwood AB. He has some in stock. He is not a site sponsor so, I can't hot-link but you will find him with a quick google search. He is very good to deal with.

This is one very solid and sweet looking wheel-gun. Think that I have lost it to my wife !!

Woohoo just got my SS baby in the mail and WOW, I'm impressed! This one's fit and finish is a gozillion times better than the first one I received. Spotless. Big thanks to Brandon at Del Selins for the fantastic and speedy service. Gotta go buy some ammo now!

I kinda feel like a freak. Everyone orders there 4.2 in Stainless and it seems im the only indiviual to go with blued. :dancingbanana:

I read once, about thirty years ago, that stainless steel has a coarse grain structure that can make operation less smooth than blued steel. :nest: Don't know if that is true or not ... but I do know blued steel is a lot harder to see in semi-darkness.

My guns are all blue.

i thought about going blued, but SS is stainless so that's a bonus as far as material integrity is concerned. the blued might look nice, but in the small package that is the Ruger 4.2" i think that SS looks nicer. the price advantage of blued isn't THAT much.

besides, if you shoot IDPA, the gun is supposed to be hidden / obscured anyways so at that point it doesn't matter much if blued is less eye-catching.

I ordered mine blued as well. It came in this week and had it out for a test run. Great weight, points and feels like an extension of my hand. I have always been an S&W fan but this revolver just fits. I'll be trying it for IDPA in the morning.

I'm on the fence at present. I sold a 6" blued one a few years back and it was a smooth revolver. The one I had was actually smoother in DA than my S&W 19 is. If I do get one it has to be BLUE not STAINLESS.

the 6"ers are probably easier to get since they share the roost with a S&W. the 4.2"ers are probably harder to catch since there's no alternatives, so if anyone wants a 4.2" then the Ruger is seemingly the only choice. so, no rush on the decision! :)
