:p

As for holsters Triple K got back to me within hours about shipping as they didn't have the Yukon listed. So far no word on the order shipping, but given the response time they got my business. I was considering just ordering the leather and making my own if they didn't respond in a timely fashion.

Whoa its already in Richmond means I'll see it Monday or Tuesday with my luck...

So how would the Bearcat compare to the Single Six?

ruger_70106.jpg

Ed the model Single Six you pictured is spec'd at 40 ounces the s/s Bearcat is spec'd at 24 ounces = appr 16 ounces weight difference...

Single Six = to big of a first handgun for my son...

^^ There's a good visual comparison.

I might have to pick up a Single Six for myself then.

That's the route I went. The Bearcat grip is on the small side for me. Also, in the choice of a single six, a while back I lucked out and picked up a bit of an 'oldie' and a bit of a 'goodie' in mint condition. An old single six with a flat loading gate:D.

Holy Cow it is already here...

My guy was out with his mom at his swimming lessons when it arrived so I had a chance to check it out without him seeing it.

I'm very impressed except for on the bottom center of the left side of the front sight blade there is a small either machining groove or imperfection indent plus the entire front sight blade seems to be bent towards the left.

I'll be contacting P&D right away to discuss this issue basically if I had been at the store and checked the gun out personally I would not have purchased the gun with this blade issue its not that it is all that bad its just for this kind of money I expect it to be perfect.

Anyway onto the really good stuff...

My guy just got home a few minutes ago now I was told that he was an absolute angel while they were out so I told him to go put on his plastic cap gun holster and put it on.

I had the gun in a pocket in my pants leg so when he got back I stood up and had him look in it and yes mom who was glowing was standing right behind him...

He undid the Velcro at the top of the pocket and looked in he gasped as he reached in and pulled the gun out he put it into his holster right away then spun around to his mom and exclaimed "WOW mom this is the best day ever" then hugs all around...

He is now dressed up in his cowboy clothes/holster/gun/lasso/boots/hat/you name it, he already knows how to 1/2 #### it to load/unload and he can easily #### the hammer all the way back by himself.

Over all it is a very good fit for him.

Mine is the same, but I don't consider it to be an "issue".

I was more disappointed with the imperfect fitting of the left grip panel to the grip frame, but that is no big deal either... Sambar stag? Elephant ivory? Hmm...

The aluminum ejector housing is driving me nuts the colour is off and it doesn't match my 2 Ruger Bisley Vaquero's in 45 Colt that are also stainless steel so I did a search for a s/s ejector rod housing and came up with this thru a fellows posts on the Ruger forum he has bought two and highly recommends them says the fit is perfect...

Ruger Bearcat Ejector Rod Housing S.S.
$37.99
This solid stainless steel ejector rod housing will match your Bearcat like it should! Replacement for the stock housing, all parts interchange and are used on this one. Fitting may be required. Made In The USA!

Glad you got your revolver, CC. The ejector housing color is one of the reasons I went with the blued one, as the alloyed colour difference doesn't look as obvious on that model. That aftermarket s/s housing you mention should do the trick! It's hard to imagine why Ruger would do this, on such an otherwise elegant little revolver.

I had an issue with our Bearcat last night we have not gone to the range yet preferring to train safety into my guys head before he touches off his first rounds we have dry fired the gun a lot basically teaching him proper grip/hold how to aim etc.

Anyway last night while we were sitting doing dry fire drills the little Allen nut/plug/spring items PR50/PR56/KE61 that are located low left of the hammer popped out of the gun.

Normally these kinds of pieces disappear when they pop out fortunately for me they hit my chest and landed on my lap and I cannot believe I found these pieces...

Anyway I recommend that all Bearcat owners get an Allen wrench and make sure this plug is tight I'm even thinking of putting a drop of loc-tite on so I do not have to worry about this issue again and yes the rest of the screws were all tight.

Sorry to hear of the difficulty you've experienced with your recently acquired Ruger Bearcat:(. 'Red' loctite may well be the answer. While admittedly I am a fan of revolvers, especially the N-frame Smiths and the Colt Python, I also have and enjoy shooting my single action Rugers. Over the years, I have had a VERY few function and reliability issues with the large frame Smiths but have yet to have any with the Rugers. The odd time I've had to snug up screws for the grip frame but that's about it.

A side issue but if there was one quality of the Ruger revolvers I would like to see improved it would be the trigger pull/let off. :redface:I guess I've been spoiled by the single action 'breaking glass' like let off of S&W DA revolvers. I do have one old 44 Ruger flattop that was fitted with what I believe to be a hammer & trigger unit from a Ruger Super Blackhawk. The let off on that is closely compareable to the SA let off of Smith DA's.
