Just purchased a beautiful Ruger 44 Mag carbine from a forum member.

I'd like to mount some sort of small light optic to enhance my shooting.

One part of me wants to mount a low powered variable scope, but the other side of my brain tells me that a red dot optic with zero magnification would be ideal...

What are your thoughts??
If you were mounting an optic on this carbine, which optic would you choose??

Thanks,

TK

I have a leupold vx-2 1-4x20 on mine and it's perfect. I tried red dots and they just don't do it for me.

VXII 1-4 x20
or VX1 1-4 shotgun scope
or VXIII or 3 1.5-5x20
VXR 1.25-4x30 illum Ret dot NICE! My #1 choice:)

Any of these scope would work well. I like the dot set on low early morning or just before dark even on overcast days.

Good luck.

Mine has a bushnell holosight.

I am in the process of repairing major stock problems or I would post a picture.

You just need one mount and then the holosight clamps on it. Should be good in all conditions.

Put a Bushnell Holo sight on mine about ten years back. Perfect match, has worked flawlessly. Just right for the little Ruger in 44.

You can still get the same sight but it does not carry the Bushnell name. There pricy, about 500 bucks but worth it. The US military uses the same sight.
