ruger .44 carbine?

Had one of the older vers. with the tube mag. One of the parts in the receiver cracked locking the gun up. Tried to chase down unobtainable parts. Apparently mine wasn't the only one that had this issue.

Just bought one this past december and can't wait to take it hunting this year. I have the tube fed model and have only put 20 rounds through it so far with no problems. It's nice and light and quick to shoulder, the only thing I don't like are the sights, might have to look into a williams peep rear and front fire sight.

Mine cracked in what I would call bolt carrier frame, myself not knowing what else to call that part.

The tube feed worked pretty slick. Easy top-ups and no loose magazine lose.

I have a Deerfield, mag fed, newer model. The receiver and bolt look similar to a mini 14/30. I have yet to fire it but it is light and seems very handy.

I read somewhere on the net that the assembly line used to make the mini 14/30 was the same one that was used for the Deerfield and that they had to stop one to make the other. With the popularity of the mini 14/30's they did not see the need to continue with the Deerfield. I have no idea if this is true but it was on the internet..................

Got one of the older tube feed models. Can't beat it for a light carry. With a QD sling and a hands-free carry it's just like carrying nothing at all. For a couple of pounds more the Lee Enfield No.5 will extend the range and long range power. But you feel the weight difference as the day wears on. For up close the 44Mag carbine will do for almost anything out there.

I had one and the trigger casting broke, no parts because this is a common problem, but ruger let me buy anything they at cost, a mkII s/s .270 lefthand for $500 at my door
