What is the value of one of these guns? 60's vintage.

That's a good price if it's in good condition. I've not seen on in the EE for lower than $475 and it was in very rough shape.

Cheers, Will

I've seen them at gun shows, asking price around $600, but they were in very good condition, metal and wood. Some of them had very nice wood stocks with beautiful wood grain and I had one of them.

I lucked into moving sale a few years back and walked away with pristine mag fed lever action model for $325. Got to love it. Sweet little carbine... knocked down a 180Kg bear at 30m with it.

Regards,

That would be a peep sight.

Assuming this is your gun, how do you like the peep sight compared to the scope on the .44 mag?

Mine had a scope on it but after it got wet im still deciding if I should put a scope on it or just use the iron sights (maybe peep sight)

I bought a "new" one 4 or 5 years ago, it was older but in the box and had not been shot, I paid $850 for it, it has the rotory mag like the 10/22 Gun is one of the best bush guns out there, i'll shoot it 100-150yards all day if i could afford to. I would get it, one thing is the tube feed version's of the 99/44 (older versions) jam up, my mag fed one has never jamed up.

I bought one a little over a year ago for $400. It was decent but didn't excite me in the slightest. There was nothing wrong with the gun. It was just in the middle of everything I want in a gun.

I got one awhile back with a scope on tip off mounts and it seems alright. Very handy little bush gun. Mine doens't jam, but will when emptying it, drives me nutz. I have figured out it's nuainces, so it isn't too bad, but I would prefer the mag fed version.

I haven't hunted this one, but had a Nery Big Boy that I shot procupines and skunks with to great effect. Just stay upwind of skunks, very smelly after.
