Ruger 77/17 2 piece bolt issue/question

Afternoon fellas,

I got this Ruger 77/17 Hornet last fall and I’m not overly impressed with the accuracy, with the best group being 1.3”. The trigger is the worst trigger I have ever pulled(including old savage model 24’s) so I have a Rifle Basix sitting here to put in.

My question is should there be 1/16” gap between the 2 piece bolt? I have a shim kit a the biggest it goes is .005. 1/16” is .0625. I’m thinking maybe this should be addressed with Ruger themselves? Thoughts?

the only thing that should matter is that there is no play when the bolt is closed on a bullet in the chamber ... thats why they make shims for that model, so that it removes all play .
