Just received a Ruger in .17 HM2 with a Nikon Prostaff scope, and see the scope can interfere with the bolt handle when it is held firmly up when operated.

Would this be any cause for concern? With the taper it never actually "hits" the scope, but slides along the side when the bolt is drawn back. I'm guessing the cheapest fix is to get some slightly higher rings, although if it isn't going to cause any issues I can live with the wear mark on the scope and handle.

My 77/22mag has the same issue. If you have any other scopes lying around, try a few on the rifle. Some have smaller-diameter eyepieces which may clear the handle. I settled on an older B&L Balvar 3-9x simply for this reason.

I have the same problem with my 77/22 and a 3-9 elite 3200 scope. Close enough though that it isn;t an issue. At least since its a stainless scope and gun. If it was blued then I'd be more concerned about it.
