Ruger 77/30-30

I have been looking at the 256 Winchester magnum. As it is based on the 357 case it should be a no brainier to re-barrel a 77/357 for a short range 200 yards or so coyote rig.
I would like to see it the 256 would feed reliably from a 77/357 magazine. Anyone out there with a 77/357 and some dummy 256 rounds to give it a try?

I also have a pair of Savage 340's... And a Ruger 77/44... If the magazine could handle the length, I would be inclined to go .357 Maximum in a 77. I have a matched set of Handi rifles in .30/30 & 7.62X39 and another set in .357 Max & .44 Mag. I tend to take those out more than the 77... They are a really comfortable carry. BUT, I would think that a 77/.30-30 would be a very popuar gun and would sell extremely well... I think you have a viable idea here.

Sounds like a fun idea! 30-30 is a great idea, but the
Little 77 action is too short. One of these rifles in 357Max, or 7.62x39 would be fun!
Then again, I already Have the M77 Hawkeye in 7.62x39 (16"barrel). Fun gun indeed!
I shoot only .308" diameter bullets, and they group close to MOA or better.

"...Would the rimmed 30/30 cartridge effect loading from a mag?..." Ever heard of the .303 Brit? snicker.
"...Only takes an order for 250 or so..." Something about that ain't right. Nothing's that easy in the firearm world.
"...the Stevens 325C developed..." As did the Savage 340. The SOB's shoot far better than they look. Mind you, most .30-30 bolt actions do that.

My two 340's are in the process of becoming mannlichers with cocobolo forend tips and grip caps and Cocobolo self-butt pads... So I guess when done they will look as good as they shoot. The barreled actions are being reblued as I write this. This is a little project to get the kids into nice little bush guns for deer.
