Ruger 77/357 - are they still being made?

Snappy? Compared to what? A 22 short? I taught a five-year-old to shoot with mine.

Definitely a great rifle and I love mine, but never found the accuracy quite to my standard. If it would print a clover leaf at 50, I’d be much happier. Especially for the price these days.

I suppose I'm a bit biased since the 77/357, 10/22 and 77/22 share a very similar form factor and I just happen to own all 3.
It's deceptively light and pointable like a 22 but puts out 7.62x39 energies.

While it feels like a 22lr if you're running 38 Specials, it's an entirely different beast with a spicy 357 load. Try working up a load for 158gr bullets and Lil Gun powder and you'll see what I'm talking about (I get around 2000fps).

Regarding accuracy, it's really only accurate with mid range(1500-1800fps) 357 Mag loads; mine will hold about 1.5moa.
I've never gotten good results with 38spl, I suspect the longer jump to the rifling probably doesn't help.
Funny enough, I've actually gotten pretty decent results with 38 Spl full wadcutters (fed by hand).

It would be a fun gun to have. I always wanted a rifle that shot a handgun cartridge I could reload. Way back I had the old 44 mag semi Ruger Deer gun with the tube mag. That was a fun toy. Really good practical accuracy. By that I mean shooting off hand, you could hit what you aimed at. Not talking about clover leafs on paper, just hitting a deer where you want at 60 yards kind of thing.

I found one trying to sell some other iron to buy but yes there’s a new release of them in a 16.6” barrel. I imported the 77/44 just recently. LOVE IT
