Not trying to start a piddle match, but why a 5rd bolt 357? I love my Marlin 94c in 357 for all the reasons that this cartridge rocks and will never part with it, just can't see a pistol calibre in a bolt gun. Please let me know what I'm missing and I repeat I'm not trying to hurl #### here.

Well changing a mag is pretty fast, maybe someone will make a 10 rounder or bigger for it!!! Also...you can mount a scope on it very easily, its light weight, can shoot it in prone...a bolt is easier for some people to use then a lever espically for kids and people with gloves on. I also find a bolt faster and easier to clean and put back together then a lever.

Personally I am PUMPED for this gun.

It's always more fun to have something "non-typical" in a particular gun.
Pistol caliber bolt guns are super for introducing new shooters to the sport,
light on recoil and light on the pocket book for ammo.(Super magnums like
460 & 500 S&W excepted)

I love my Ruger 77/44 and my Marlin 1894 .357 mag, Spanish Destroyer
carbine 9mm. Bergman and my .45 ACP Lee Enfield, as well as my Rossi
M92 .44 & .454 magnums. All of them are in A-1 shape, accurate and a hoot to shoot. I only shoot lead from these rifles to ensure long life to the barrels and a reliable, quick end to the critters I take with them. Lever or bolt, I love 'em.

I'll be adding a Ruger 77/357 to the collection as soon as I put together
a .458 Win Mag compact bolt gun project that's in the works.

Variety is it for me.

The reason it is a good idea it is for accuracy a bolt gun lock better giving superior accuracy, my 77-44 reload with 270 gr will shoot close to moa on the sands bags thus giving you extra range if you need it, none of my levers can give that good, more 2 to 3 moa... Cheers. JP.

I wish I had your luck!
My 77/44 shoots 4"+ at 100 with anything bigger than 210 grains!
Very dissappointing to say the least.
I sold it and am waiting for the 77/357 to show up.

Try this load you might smile 270 gr Speer SP, 21 gr of Littlgun CCI #300 primer COL 1.700 ( try the first one you reload in your magazine they are limit ), this load in my 77-44 is 1 to 1.25 in MOA and over the chrony run 1650-1660 fps... Cheers

My 77/44 likes the heavier stuff too. I'm loading 270 grain Speer Gold Dot/Deep Curl and 265 grain Hornady Interlock soft points with 23 grains of H110 and getting the same velocity and good accuracy even with apeture sights.

The rifle did not shoot 240 grain Winchester White Box well at all. The best factory load was the 225 grain Hornardy Leverevolution plastic tipped. Under 2" at 100 when I still had a scope on the rifle.

I'm not as interested in the 77/357 but never say never.;)

I will pass the load info to the friend who bought my 77/44.
Maybe he can get it to group with the big stuff.

I was totally fed up with it, to be honest. Loved the gun, hated the accuracy with heavier bullets.

As a truck gun it has to be ready and loaded pretty fast 'cause you never know when you see some grouse/rabbits/deer.

The lever I own has a 9 round magazine but loading it takes way too long and unloading it before getting in the vehicle is nothing short of a hassle.
