I had a failure to eject with my year-old Hawkeye a couple days back. It just stopped ejecting, and it appeared to me that the ejector was not rising high enough in its slot to contact the cartridge rim.
I put a drop of oil on the ejector and worked it a couple of times, and presto! Restored to functionality! I just wondered if anyone else had had that happen before; it's my first CRF rifle so I didn't know that I should pay particular attention to the ejector. I'm normally quite conscientious about keeping rifles clean and lubed.

It sounds like you are describing a failure to eject. A failure to extract would have left the case in the chamber.
