I have been all over the net and read the good , bad and the ugly. Any one here have experience with this rig??? Looking for first hand experience.

Once again I am referring someone to gunrunner100, lol. He has a 77 in the hornet and I believe he really likes it. Try sending him a PM if he doesn't pop in here.

They are solid rifles and usually accurate... I have owned and loaded for and shot half a dozen Ruger Hornet's. One of the main draw backs of the 77/22 Hornet's is the magazine... it limits the OAL that can be used... generally you are short of the cannelure on most bullets of 40 grains or more... and even then, with the 40 VM you will only get 4 rounds into the 6 round magazine until the jam. Try the 35 VM's in your

I recently purchased a 77/17 in 17 hornet. The trigger was heavy, and I couldn't get consistent accuracy, until I bedded the front of the receiver, and the first couple of inches or so of the barrel, and floated the rest of the barrel. I finally have it fine tuned, and today I shot a .370" five shot group at 100m with it.

Like hoytcanon stated, they have a restrictive mag length for longer bullets. I have a Ruger #3 and a Browning bolt. Got to love the hornet !

I have actually bailed on the Hornet in favor of a brace of .218 Bee's... the new one arrives this week.

I had a Ruger 77/22 hornet from the 80s that was just plain terrible it was minute of pie plate at 50 yards. Total garbage. I have a new production Ruger that is a great shooter. If buying used try to get a new production one and you should be good. Ruger provides years of production by serial number on their webpage. This is my rugers grouping yeah it is a 26 shot group.
