It was time to replace the canoe-paddle stock on my 30-06.

Ruger 77 Mk2 Stainless in Boyds' Classic Royal Jacaranda stock. I think the colour looks great with the stainless action. :)

This is the first Boyds' I have bought and was very pleased. Shipping from the USA was less than 2 weeks and the action was an easy drop-in. I did bed the tang and the front sides just to centre the action in the stock but I think it would have shot fine without it.

I prefer the camo ones with the green instead of the purpely red but it does look pretty sharp! Is it finished in this picture? It's kind of hard to tell.

Looks cool 'Boo, but I can't see any checkering?

Checkering would have taken the cost over the $100.00 export limit.
I will probably end up sticking on some grip tape.

I just got home from the range and have to say the rifle is now a pussycat to shoot when compared to the beating that I would get with the canoe paddle!

I'm curious on what the stock weighs. Looks decent to me. Anything looks better than those canoe paddle stocks Ruger used. Easily the ugliest stock in a long time!

sweet pea!!! My youngest son tossed the canoe stocks on 2 of his M77's and went with the reg Ruger Walnut. Although, for some rough hunting trips, he'll put the canoe back on. I'm gonna show him your pics!

I put the same stock (nutmeg laminate) on one of my 77MKII's as well. I love the feel and handling, don't really feel the need for checkering. I see that yours has the same profile as mine, i.e. it has that large flat surface surrounding the tang. Are you planning on doing anything in that area to blend the contours into a more pleasing shape? Before I ordered mine, several years ago, I had only seen photos of this stock pattern, which showed a much more smoothly rounded shape in the tang area. I've toyed with the notion of altering it ever since I put it on, but I keep chickening out. I find this the only unattractive feature of this stock...am I the only one who thinks this needs work?

Looks very nice.

I've got a stainless Ruger 77 MkII in 7.62x39mm that I've considered getting a Boyd's classic pepper laminate for. Might just take the plunge now that I've see how nice yours looks.

NAA.

Very nice, I put the same stock on a Ruger 30 06 in nutmeg, found I preferred their Prairie Hunter or the Thumbhole more, I have lost count on the Boyds stocks I have put on 6 or 7 I think and I have always been happy. To bad about that $100 limit it would be nice to get one with some options.

Very nice, I had the same stock in nutmeg on a MK ll, found I liked the Prairie Hunter and the Thumbhole more, I have put 6 or 7 on now and have always been pleased.
