Just looking for a new addition to the good old vault but need some info and advice. Would like to purchase a new 9mm toy. Have been looking at the Ruger SR9 can't' go wrong with the price but do not know enough on them. Any feedback would be appreciated and also any other suggestions. I do not wish to break the bank on this and that is why I have seen the Ruger at Cabelas at around 569.00 for SS.

My uncle has the SR45 and it had some ejection and extraction issues but I can't say anything for the 9mm. For the price I'm sure it will be a good handgun if you're just an average shooter and not going to be putting thousands of rounds through it in a year.

Had one. Weird trigger. Nothing special. Got rid of it. Can't say there was really anything wrong with it.

I was comparing it to a CZ85C, HP, and a M&P Pro (with Apex upgrade).

Well I can't really compare to others cause my SR9 is my only 9mm, I keep reading people complain about the trigger...but I like it...good little gun, accurate, no issues with it...I have close to 1000 rounds through it...I think I paid 519.00 for the stainless if I remember correctly.

I bought one for my first pistol a couple years ago, and it has run flawlessly aside from when I first limp-wristed it.
I think the trigger is a little stiff, still but after a thousand + rounds, I have had no real issues or complaints and have heard similar opinions.
Can't go wrong for the price and it comes with three grip straps to fit your hand. I have no problems recommending it.

Good gun.....accurate.....eats any ammo all day long....light factory trigger pull these are on EE for around 400$ every other week....good buy....buy now get shooting!

I have researched the hell out of the SR9 and I bought one. A great gun for sure. Narrow grip, fast to point ,great smooth trigger , low recoil impulse, adjustable sights. A super gun for the money, but I am sure the hard lined Glocksters will disapprove. LOL My money was well spent, it's never being sold !

Decent handgun for the price. Light trigger pull. Accuracy is not the best compared to my s&w mp9. For a couple bucks more I'd get the mp9. Just my opinion.

Great bang for buck. I've had mine 4 years, I like it's trigger, fits like a glove for me, is accurate and ate every type of ammo I threw at it; 115 through 147 with +P. I always recommend it.

I bought the SR45 because it was cheaper than the SR9. I like it a lot. Full ambi controls, descent sights, lots of fun.

But the ammo is twice as much...

They're ok for a cheaper pistol.

Buying the gun is the least of the costs... I'd suggest spending a few dollars more and getting a M&P Range Kit, or the Walther PPX Range Kit. For the price the Walther is great, but harder to get extra mags or accessories for.

I customized and dumped A LOT of money into my Glock 17 and I still prefer my stock SR9.

Over 5000rds through mine so far. A few FTE's using reloaded ammo, no issues at all with new stuff. And like others have said, it will handle any brand and type of ammo.
Super easy to strip for cleaning, comfortable to hold/shoot and more accurate than I am. I didn't find the trigger particularly bad when it was new but now it seems silky smooth to me.

I have been looking at them alot as well. I went to the Wild West range in West Edmonton Mall specifically because they had the SR9 and I am very interested in it for my first handgun. The range was dead and I had the chance to talk to the guys in the back who showed me 3 guns in 9mm at that price point. Of which I found the SR9 I preffered the most. They said the SS one I had shot has had no issues for almost 3 years now and the other two a S&W and another they said they replaced at least once a year. That alone I found impressive since more rounds go through that SR9 in a month as I could dream of in a year on my range.

I'm inspecting mine right now and have something over 8K rounds through it now. There are some burnishing marks on the barrel and slide, the paint on the loaded chamber indicator is pretty much gone but it ate 300 of my reloads last time without a single hiccup.
