Now that makes absolutely no sense to me..... why would you want a 223 in that configuration????
For fun!
Maybe cuz it's a nice looking rifle. Now that makes absolutely no sense to me..... why would you want a 223 in that configuration????

I asked the very same question myself. The reply was that it allowed people to practice with a low cost round in a rifle configured similarly to their big game rifle.

Well, at least the damn thing has real iron sights!
.223's with irons seem to be getting as rare as hen's teeth.
Northman's nailed it, how many American pattern .223's do you see with quality iron sights and decent walnut?
That's all it's about. No African practice. No Dik Dik or Duiker shooting. Just a nice .223 that somebody at Ruger had the good sense to order into production.
Hahaha ... I enjoy all my guns and fun but why in African rifle style???
What's next a 458 Win Mag varminter???
All 'African' means here is quality iron sights. It's the same as any other Model 77 except for iron sights, and a nice all around compromise barrel length of 23". Don't get too caught up in marketing terms is all.
