My brand new break action Ruger Air Hawk, just out of the box, won't break (####). It's supposed to take 30 pounds to break the action but i have used more than double that and it won't budge. I can't find anything in the instructions about it. Are they locked some way?

It doesn't look like there is a lock to push so you may have to give it a sharp smack with your hand, or else take it back to the store and let them break it. There may be a problem with the linkage or it may just be glued together with packing grease. To be safe I would take it back and let the store demonstrate.

I would take it back. Likely the spring guide or the tabs on the cocking arm are malformed and preventing movement. When I took mine apart to install a Vortek kit I had both, but neither so much as to prevent factory function. The guide was discarded and the tabs filed down with the tuning kit, so all is good now. It's not worth the trouble on a new gun, though.

I bought it in the States and don't want to take it through US Customs returning it. You never know from one day to the next what they will allow. Their gun laws are so complex that very few know them all and they all have different opinions. I don't want to take a chance on their seizing it.

i had a ruger airhawke. its gone now. was not happy with it. their should be a crossbolt on the hindge. maybe its torqued all to hell. try backing it off.

RWS 34 internals will fit.Likely a broken mainspring.I'd take it apart and replace the spring seal and polish the inside of the compression tube and cocking slot.Take a 3/8" piece of hardwood dowel saw a sot in the tip and insert a 3" double folded emery cloth and a cordless drill.Polish away.Seals are available from Airgun Headquarters as well as springs.Me I'd do a complete kit and call it a day.........Harold

Hold the barrel at midpoint in your left hand, hold rear of action in your right hand bring gun down as you raise your right knee and hit front of stock near the pivot with your knee as you bring your arms down. these guns are quite well made but lack somewhat in the finish department it likely has some burrs around the pivot plunger. Give her a few good ones but try not to hurt your knee.
