Merry Christmas. Saw an article in a hunting magazine i got in my stocking. Any word on if and when we get these up here and if they are worth buying. I am looking for a Sr 22 and found this which would be great since I could share magazines. Seems like a good alternative to the savage. Thanks
ive been waiting for one.
i saw the ones at irungunz but i want the 22" not the 18".
from what i have read so far they have been getting good reviews.
if the stock is anything like the other 'American' series guns it will be cheap.
i already plan on upgrading mine to a Boyd one when they finally get up here.
I don't mind being the guinea pig. I held an American in 30-06 and agree the stock felt cheap. Either way I will be watching for them. 110rd drum mag, hahaha
ive got my name down for one, have since last summer.
im kinda hoping it makes it in before this summer.
if the stock is anything like the full sized Ruger American's i think ill be swapping it out for a Boyd as i see they already have those for sale on their site.
I fired ~50 rounds at the range to break things in a little. They were mostly Federal Game-Shok with a few Remmington sub-sonics at the end. No misfires and after looking at the spent brass there is quite the indent in them. I almost wonder if there's some puncturing going on. There was some carbon on the bolt face. I only realized this once I was back home. I will have to test some more next weekend.
I started with the iron sights but I was useless unless the target was at ~25m. I slapped a cheap 4x scope that came with an air rifle on the tip-offs and did a basic sight-in. By the end I was able to hit a chunk of broken clay at 100m with a few attempts. Other than the possible perforation of the primer rim I was very happy with how things went.
I picked one up a few months ago, but only taken it out to the bush once - 3 feet of snow and well below zero!
I was impressed with the accuracy compared with my scoped 10/22's at short range (snow angels from the top of cattle split-rail). Longer barrel.
Didn't get a chance to shoot further that 30 yards or so though.
I'm going to try and get out this afternoon now that the snow is cleared and temps are reasonable.
Going to keep it with just the irons for now as it's a good start for the youngins' (and my wife
