Thinking of one as a mid range coyote calling/stalking rifle. How is muzzle blast? Will it stabilize 55's? As a hand loader, what velocities can I realistically expect to get? Powders I currently have on hand are H4350 , 4895 , 4831sc , varget and imr 4064 . Have Cci 400 and Remington bench rest small primers.

Don't have a .223 but I've got a stainless compact 308. I don't find the muzzle blast on it all that bad at all and I've seen a lot worse muzzle jump on other carbines the stock shape and alignment seems OK in that regard, I wouldn't see any issues with a .223 obviously either. As for velocity loss you probably wouldn't be too far off what I see in my 308 which is 150 to 200 ft/s loss from 24" barrel data.

I picked one up but have only had it out twice, you know that snow thing in NS! Muzzle blast was not a problem and I put a few different rounds down range and they all shot good. There was a couple that shot great and I picked up a couple more boxes of the heaver stuff. Our outdoor range is being fixed up today as there was a lot of ice and snow. I am hoping it is going to shoot the 60-75 gr great but we will see. Decided to sell in the valley last week so will have much to do but will try to get back out soon. I know that the Hornady 55 gr Varmint Express shot great.

I am a small person and the LOP is great for me but a large person might have add to it with a slip on recoil pad?

I have a model 77 compact in 22 250 and muzzle blast is not a problem well hunting ,it could get to be a problem at the range if you were to shot a ton ,but no problems for me ..Dutch
