What are the differences between the Scout and the Gen 2 American?

-Rail
-Front sight
-AR type mag

Basicly the main differences are the rail and the iron sights. The normal American Ranch both Gen 1 (which I have) and Gen 2 both take AR mags. Now they x39 in this version is an improvement as it takes AK mags where as the standard takes mini-30 mags. I love my American Ranch Gen 1 btw.

I have the Gen2 Ranch and it seems fine, I am happy enough with it. The rail was sufficient for a scope mount and not having iron sights doesn’t bother me at the moment.

As of January 2026, the availability of the Ruger Scout appears nonexistent. Keep an eye out, but we feel that they are months away at best.
