Hey all.
Picked up a gen 2 Ruger American for my daughter to hunt with this year. She needs a shorter length of pull.
Does anyone know any places in Canada that I can purchase the inset set for the stock?
I tried the tiger website but they required confirmation of American purchasing address and won’t ship to Canada.

Anyone in Canada supply them or is there a way to get them into Canada?

Not looking for the new stock.
yes it is an adjustable stock, but the inserts to shorten the stock do not come with the rifle and must be purchased separate
Have you shortened the stock yet ? From what i understand you remove the sling swivel and remove the piece of plastic stock then reinstall sling swivel. I think it brings it to a 12" lop

I think you or I might be misunderstanding how to shorten the stock. Did you try taking it apart already?

Dont you just take the insert out, and re-attach the recoil pad on the actual stock?

I did indeed. I was able to order the Length of Pull kit through one of Korth. I have installed it and it works great. Should give my daughter a bit of a more comfortable Length of pull.
And yes, to remove said peice, you remove the sling swivel, unbolt the stock portion from the stock itself, and then remove the butt pad off the standard sized LoP part and replace it back onto whichever new replacement LoP piece you want. Insert the butt pad back onto the new LoP piece and then put that set back into the stock, then replace the sling swivel and you are done.

Unfortunately, you can not simply remove the butt pad and pull the LoP piece that comes with the gun out and then put the pad back onto the end of the stock as the stock itself is hollow and there is nothing to bolt the butt pad back into.

There are only 2 downsides to this gun that I have found (I have not shot it yet) 1. The gun does not come with the LoP kit in the box, nor does the comb riser kit. both of these are aftermarket purchases. Which I disagree with. If you are going ot sell the gun, it should come with all the litle trinkets like that.
and the second annoying thing is, that the gun requires either the original LoP piece to hold the butt pad on, or one of the kit pieces to be installed. you can not put the butt pad on without one of these pieces.

Otherwise, the gun is clean, comfortable, and definitely sleek looking.

I was hoping for that option, and I did take the pand and insert apart before ordering the kit, just to make sure I didnt spend unneccessary money. As it turned out, that is 1 downside I found for the gun is that removing the pad, then removing the insert then putting the pad back on directly to the stock is not an option. The stock is hollow and there is nothing for the pad to be bolted directly into other than the original insert.

Hmmmmm,
Pretty sure i did that tho.
Removed the spaces and used the sling swivel screw to pull the butt pad back on.

Im gonna go try this now. I dont use the stock. Mine is in an MDT chassis

Ya. Here ya go.

Seems to work fine if needed.

Well son of a gun!
I’m gonna have to take a second look.

Just back with an update to shortening the LoP on my Ruger Gen 2.
Turns out, one does not need the inserts to put the rubber butt pad back on the stock. It can fit directly to the stock, sans inserts.

Thanks to Beeron for pointing g this out. Now that I’ve looked closer and tried it myself, it does indeed work and will work well without the need to the extra parts.
