Hey everyone. I'm looking to buy a Ruger American Ranch in .223. I can find the standard 5 round mag version all day long but I'm looking for the #26965 that accepts AR magazines


I cannot find any of these at a Canadian retailer.

Anyone have a lead on one of these sweet rifles?

they are a fantastic rifle.
i got mine this summer, i had the original one with the ruger rotary mag but didn't like the mag so when the new one with the AR mag came out i sold off my original one and picked up the new model.
LOVE IT!

but just so you know, while the website says its 223 its actually 5.56, Ruger knows about this discrepancy, they told me they would update their webpage.... eventually.
*edit* i see they HAVE finally updated their webpage to list these as 5.56

i had mine imported from irunguns but i have seen them at NorthPro, JoBrooks, Prophet River and a bunch of other places over the last couple months. they are hard to find because people are snapping them up.

Thank you very much WayUpNorth. I've liked the idea of a bolt action with a more common mag. Have you tried your's with any 10 round PMAG or any other LEGAL variant AR mag? How do they cycle and eject? Any issues?

Got mine from IRG this summer. Great little shooter. Pmags are a sloppy fit but function 100%. I figured that I have the ammo and mags already for my ar then this was a no brainer.

mine came with one of the 10 round PMAG's and its works excellent.
i have a dozen 10 round LAR mags and all of them function fine.
i have 2 10 round LAR mags that came with some Norinco AR's from years ago (or are they 5 round mags..... cant remember now) and they dont run very well in the rifle.
i also ran a couple different 5/30 and 5/20 and 5/40 mags and they all ran just fine.

only problem i had with the rifle was there was a bit of a overhang from the stock over the mag release but i zipped that off with a rotary tool and sanded it smooth, other that that the gun is a keeper for sure!

Cabelas had them listed on their website last week, but they may not have been the rotary mag version.

Last i heard Ruger had to create a new SKU for these, as they came into country with 10 pmags minus a rivet, so they have to come up with a 5 rd mag AR mag solution, or a pistol mag. Given what it takes rime wise for a company like Ruger to make a product line change, for a relatively small market, it could be a while. Which is a shame, these are such great rifles.

I got mine from IRG, took a little while but I'm happy with it. Found it through their American site a had them import it for me.

I looked everywhere and couldn't find one so I ended up getting the rotary mag one the other day. The mag sure seems flimsy but should hopefully be a good little plinker?
 
Anyone got a Canadian retailer with these in stock? I'm open to 223 or 300BLK. I think I have checked all the CGN sponsors and can only find the rotary mag model on the very few that has stock. Grrr.
