Ruger American Rimfire Target 22lr

i must admit im very excited about this gun.

i ordered mine in the 17HMR as i dont have that caliber yet.
so im gonna break my 17HMR cherry with this one when it comes in!

You should...I want a range report and some nice pics! :) In all seriousness...winters are long, and $ burns a hole in my pocket for the most part. Promised myself I wouldn't buy/sell any 22s this year and I've sold 1, bought 2. lol I figure that at the very least...I could liquidate a bouquet of them down the road and catapult myself into an Anschutz budget. I've yet to buy anything from Nordic, but have sure skulked around their site plenty of times.

Would be hard for me to NOT buy another CZ if I had the budget for one, but that Ruger rifle you're pining for has me intrigued.

I know, I want an Anschutz... I have the budget, but I'm a guy who needs a high cheek piece... I don't wana have to spend cash afterword's or mod such a classic gun.

I think I may be able to hold out, I'm stopping by the LGS tomorrow to see if I can pre order. If not then grouse will be getting a call...

I like the 17 cal for target shooting, but I don't like it for hunting. Not many phat ground hogs around here, its too small for the yotes (personal thing) and it blows the chit outa rabbits and tree rats. So no good for eating. (even with head shots, where does that bullet go? That why I like small game hunting with a 22)

Hey CK~curious about the high cheek piece remark. Why is that? Large obj. lens on your planned scope? Just curious...as I want to "get it right" when I eventually get my Anschutz! :)

As for the groundhogs...where is "around here?" I'm all set for groundhog season, but have to commute to get into their range. Minimum of 2 hours in the truck each way...but worth it to me. :) My .223 gets the nod, but there is usually something else on deck for variety's sake. Lately, my 870P, and the Hornady 12ga. "Varmint Express" #4 buck. Good stuff for that job, very tight-patterning...heavy-hitting.

All stocks seem to be designed for iron sight rifles... If you are like me, you are like this guy...

I have this issue with EVERY stock rifle. I NEED a cheek riser to use an optic, unless I have an adjustable stock.

SEE 4:20 INTO THE VIDEO AS YOU CAN SEE WE DONT LINE UP PROPERLY TO VIEW THROUGH THE OPTIC.

Now you see why I don't want to spend 1500 bucks on a rifle that I still need to adjust in some way to use an optic properly.

Being able to just drop your head perfectly behind the optic every time not only creates a proper and constant sight picture for long range shooting consistency, it also gives you that extra second or two faster on target that you are not trying to find your optic. A HUGE advantage when tree rat hunting, a second can make the difference from getting a shot, to waiting for him to stop moving again and who knows if another shot will present itself.

I may end up picking up a cz and dropping it into an MDT chassis. We will see.

thus resulting in all my rifles looking like this In order, my weatherby, my savage 22lr, my CZ 452 Varmint 22lr

As much as I love it, no one seems to make a rifle that has a high enough or adjustable cheek piece or optimal optic use. Unless its tacticool and 1000 bucks more then the stock model lol

Seems strange they would dump the iron sights on that model. I just ordered the standard wood stock version, the SS looks great though. The target model seems a little pricey for my tastes, a nice rifle nonetheless.
