Ruger American vs Savage Axis - Thoughts??

I can't understand why some recommend to buy an Axis, buy a new stock and buy a trigger. Why not buy a Accustock, Accutrigger FCNS and have a better rifle for the same cost???????????

Why not? Some people like to tinker. I would take my axis over the gun you just listed. Its no sako but I don't expect it or want it to be. 3000 rounds and not one problem with mine at all. Ive had people offer me $400 for the gun itself and turned them down. That was before a new stock.

Why would someone recommend a kia when there are plenty of nicer cars around. Same deal here.

and the ruger will out shoot the savage axis any day

As the owner of a .243 Axis I would have to say, I doubt that!
I will go on to say that if the Ruger does out shoot the Savage any day then they are darn fine shooter's as I'm nothing but impressed with how my cheap ugly Axis shoots and so was a fellow in the lane beside me shooting a fat barreled Remington.

x2!

Inexpensive, accurate and light, I think I am sold on the American in .243 for yote hunting, and I finally tracked one down for under $400. Wish someone around here had them so I could handle it, but for the price I think I will chance it and order it Monday.

Well I have owned both and the ruger is a way better rifle hands down

Axis is so ugly. I checked out the Ruger and it doesn't look bad. It doesn't seem that cheap I guess. 243 would make for a good coyote rifle.
