Ruger AR556 or S&W M&P Sport II

Pretty much equal.

When I searched for my first AR, both had great reviews for an entry level AR, and both had a few unpleasant reviews (lemons).

Pros: The M&P comes with a decent quality LPK (the trigger is made by S&W and stamped with a small S), MP tested bolt, a nice carrier, the buffer tube kit used on it is high quality, overall the parts used are certainly middle of the road or better based on my experience, never shot with a rest, but standing/braced it was a great shooter

Cons: mine had a lot of rattle, loose fit between the upper and lower (I ended up selling it and building an aero receiver with the tension screw, amazing), the hand guard rattled, the stock rattled..all fixable issues

I had a Ruger SR 556 and it was great overall but trigger was a little heavy. I am sure the AR 556 would be fine. There was a thread on here about poor upper/lower fit on some S&W Sport II's, but most people seem happy with them.

Or u could go with a PSA Freedom 15 from Irunguns. They are awesome for the price.
