Ruger Bearcat Vs. Ruger Single Ten Vs. Ruger Single Six........

Which one do you prefer and why?

Accuracy?

Problems, besides the Bearcat being a tad small too hang onto

Holster?

Have you shot .22 LR or .22 shorts through yours?

Pics would be nice too

I've played with the Single Six before and it was fun and accurate, pinging golfballs and making them dance. Never held a Bearcat, although I have read that it's grip is on the small side.

I have the Single Ten. I really like the grips on it. I believe they are"gunfighter" grips. They are thinner and feel very good in the hand.
I'm not a huge fan of the fiber optic inserts in the sights, but that's just me. I ignore them. The gun is very accurate and way more fun than I expected.

I had to send it in to fix the front sight (it was tilted to the right), they fixed it and had it back to me in three weeks. Not bad turn around time.

All in all, I like it.

Nester...I went through the same exercise as you.
In the end I picked up a stainless Bearcat. When I first opened the box I thought this "little thing" is a joke.
It's tiny in the hand but there's just something right about how its size and the 22lr round goes together so nicely. When I'm the plinking mood the bearcat comes out.
The only negative I can think of is the thin trigger makes the pull seem harder than it is. Here's mine with a holster I had made for it recently:
I'm really surprised how well the sights work. Is it a Target gun....no but a great little plinker.

I have an original Bearcat, and have owned a few Single Six's over the years. The Bearcat is perfect for teaching children to shoot. Small, light, simple to use. Great for that, and now I use it for my grandson. The Single Six fits grown up hands better, and I don't see much difference other then capacity between the six and ten shot versions . FWIW - dan

I have a Single Ten and an old model Single Six and like them both. Someday I hope to add a Bearcat to my collection someday. If I was to own only one it would be a Single Six convertible.

i found the bearcat a little too small for my hands, and i would say my hands are medium in size.
i prefer the single six, real nice to shoot.
i changed out the stock wood grips for hogue wrap around finger groove ones.

i am thinking of getting a single 10 with the fiber optic sights because it seems like it would be a more accurate little plinker then the single six (fixed sights)

pictures..... you wanted pictures.....

we both found the stock grips where very ruff when shooting, so much so that when the gun bucked we where getting rug burn on the meaty part of our hands after a day at the range plinking.
so Hogue to the rescue!!

Oh man! Ugly as homemade shoes! Sorry WayupNorth, but single actions just look silly with DA Hogue grips...Function over form I understand, but wow does that look weird.

Totally agree regarding the looks, but it VASTLY improved my 10 year olds accuracy with the Single Six....crazy, but true

i just have this mental image of riding a moped with a fat chick and those guns a blazing and squealing in joy!

and no, no picture for this one.... some posts do NOT need a picture!

If I were you I'd post a wtb add for an old model 3 screw Super Single Six with 22LR and 22 WMR cylinders. You may luck out and find one in new condition like I have. The old model Super has the adjustable rear sight, a nice solid feel, an excellent trigger that needs no upgrading or work, and (most importantly for me) 4 clicks without the safety bar. For me the Bearcat's feel too small in my large hands and the Single 10's have those gawd awful fibre optic sights that should never be allowed on a single action revolver in my opinion...(no offence to you Single 10 owners...:)). Anywhoo, just my $0.02....
