lately ive been absolutely infatuated with these little pistols but unfortunately i was born to late and they just happen to be prohibited due to 4 inch barrel so ive been thinking that one could just have them barreled to 4.25 inchs to make them restricted has anyone else had this idea and does anybody have an idea of what this would cost theres 2 of them sitting in wholesale in stoon just looking at me

I've shot a S&W 34 kit revolver a few times now and it's a fantastic little shooter. I was thinking that a Bearcat would be something to have but the prohib status ruined it. It's too bad there isn't enough of us up this way to convince Ruger to make it a 1.25 inch barrel so it could come in as restricted. Heck, it's not like the extra 1/4 inch of barrel would make it any harder to use as intended. Maybe we need to send an email barrage to Ruger.

Paying for the cost to rebarrel these existing versions you found would likely up the price far too much for most of us to be able to justify them. At that point it would make more sense to just get a S&W 617 for the incredably high price those go for.

EDIT- Sorry, I got my numbers for the S&W model all mixed up in my first sentance. Corrected.

Or just buy an SW M17. There's usually one on the EE for $350-400.
