Does anyone have an official link that states these mags as being prohibited in Canada?
Zamboniman: If these are prohibited devices, you might as well order a silencer or automatic-knife. Either would be cooler and if you are going to "do it anyway" you might as well go big.
I believe that the rules have recently changed at Canada Customs where they now are able to get police involved for any prohibited components intercepted at the border if they choose to.
Get ready! You have three Scenarios:
1) Items pass through Canada customs (most likely) but now you are in possession of prohibited items... I'd recommend pinning them to 10rnds ASAP.
2) Items are seized and slated for destruction at the border; a letter is sent to you asking if you want to contest their decision.
3) The least likely... Items are intercepted, police are involved, package continues to your address and a "sting" is setup for the moment you pickup the package. This would be the most exciting scenario.
*I'd recommend calling the CFC to get the official word on these mags: 1-800-731-4000*
Never mind I'll do it
Update:
Ugh... it's funny because not even the CFC can field these questions... I got passed around over and over... some technicians telling me only 5rnds max for rimfire rifle LOL!!!
OUR FIREARM LAWS AND THE SYSTEM IN PLACE TO CONTROL IT IS A JOKE!!!!!!
So the best explanation I got form the third "technician" was that if it is made for a rifle, but can fit in a pistol it has to be limited to 10rnds; an explanation I don't believe and think is also false. What a joke.
I asked specifically about the Ruger BX-25 mags, no one knew what the hell I was talking about. I said I wanted some specific decision made with regards to deeming the BX-25 a prohibited device... all I'd get it pauses and stupid-ass explanations on their own personal interpretations about magazines and Canadian Law.
When laws become so discombobulated that not even the specialists can answer the questions, that's a sure sign we've gone too far.
