Ruger BX-25

I was told that ruger was just waiting for the patent on the butler creek ones to expire and that they are the exact same with the ruger name on it.

I would seriously question all of that. If anything, patents would be held by Ruger for thier original design, not an aftermarket company like Butler Creek and the internal mechanisms and outer casings are obviously different by just looking at the video on the Ruger web site.

Ruger currently has had them for sale on thier web site for a couple months now, so they are obviously not "waiting for patents to run out".

I tried to order the BX-25s direct from Ruger using a 20% coupon. I was told that they weren't shipping those to me in Canada due to the RCMP.

Apparently the issue is that they also fit in the Charger pistol. I don't imaging a 25-round mag for a pistol would make the Northwest Mounted Police too happy. That being said, they seemed to feel that they would be able to convince the RCMP to let them through.

I take all of that with a grain of salt. Just passing along what I was told.

I just hope that the Wolverine folks get them in so that I can get them finally!

WOLVERINE FOLKS - have you heard the same thing, or might you have an ETA on those mags?

Was told by a reputable gun shop in town. As for waiting for the patent to run out patents dont last forever. So ruger could have been making them for a while depending when the patent ran out.

I was also told by my reputable gun shop that there's no way these 25 Ruger mags will make it into Canada but then I see that Wolverine has them on order? When I contacted Wolverine they were unable to give an ETA or price though...guess we'll have to wait and see!

I thought the problem is how the magazine is advertised, not whether it fits.

I'm also interested to hear how this pans out, as BX-25 mags for our 10/22s would be great. :)

Not the same, feed angle is different, they are a 25 round magazine with the exact feed lips of the 10 round rotary mags, and they work great! They also don't clip together and seem heavier duty.

Then would the issue not exist with the butler creek mags that are already on the market?

I think its a big issue because its a factory 25 round mag instead of a 3rd party mag that just also happens to fit a handgun. If they start selling chargers with BX-25s, we will have a serious problem.

I really can't see it becoming a problem. If anything, I think they'd package them with the SR-22, but why bother when people will pay extra?

If it comes down to what the magazine was designed for, the 10/22 is first and foremost a rim-fire rifle.

^^^ They do not come with the SR22. It comes with the roary ten round mag. Just met a guy with a brand new one today at the range. Its all about the after-market stuff with that thing. It does not even come with any sights at all.
