Could be they simply didn't know about it.

Example 2*: The Ruger BX-25 magazine, chambered for 22 LR calibre, is designed and manufactured for use in the Ruger SR22 rifle, the 10/22 family of rifles/carbines and the 22 Charger handgun. As a result, this magazine is a prohibited device unless modified so its capacity is 10 cartridges or less. (*This information was not included in the original version of this bulletin, but was added on 2013-09-05.)
 
How many people bought these mags from Bass Pro Shop and don't frequent CGN's? They would now have illegal mags and would have no way of knowing unless they are caught with them. From what I understand they are not marketed for the charger on the package, is this correct? It is sure a good thing that all the other 25 round mags made for the 10/22 don't fit in the Charger.

I would have bought a few but the price is insane... For now I'll stick to my regular steel lipped Butler Creek mags and speed loader.
10000+ rounds and not one fail to fire...

I love HiCal and even took my rPal with them but the price is waaaaaay to high no matter how much I want them to succeed.
 
The packaging was not the core problem. The core problem was that Ruger had basically declared it a pistol mag when they said it was for both the 10/22 rifle AND charger pistol. Changing packaging won't help. Ruger can't "un-say what it said" so-to-speak.

Ruger's strategy on this at this point is to convince the RCMP that because the Charger pistol is discontinued the BX-25 is no longer a pistol mag. I don't think it's a particularly good strategy; but it's the only option they've got.

Also, wouldn't be the first time illegal products made it past customs. Combine that with maybe a less-than-knowledgeable purchasing manager and voilà! Prohibs being sold.

That all being said, this thread is about the BX-50. Everyone's got a right to an opinion on the pricing, but let's at least not compare it to illegally sold products in Canada?

You're 100% correct that the mag limits were a direct result of C-17. They are ridiculous and only an absolute fool could think that they actually do anything to "Protect the masses" as it were. That being said, you always conveniently leave out the word "Progressive" when you speak of the defunct political party who brought us those laws. Why do you constantly misrepresent the truth? Are you trying to make people think that there is no difference between that party and our present gov't? Can you personally not see the massive difference between them?

If you're going to lie, the least you can do is try to make it a good one and not go for the sneaky route of lying by omission. That ####'s just sad.
 
Visited Bass Pro in Vaughan yesterday but there were none remaining on the shelf. Didn't see any empty display racks where they would have been hanging. About a million Butler Creek mags on every corner of every aisle. How much was Bass Pro selling the Ruger mags for?
 
Once a prohib magazine, always a prohib magazine. Wonderful Conservative laws. And YES the old P.C. Federal Party IS THE SAME as the Current Conservative party. They all try to buy votes with their promises. They keep a few and bust the rest. What has the conservative government done for us lately, aside from the LGR gone? Getting the rcmp in check? Nope. Getting the CFO's in check? Nope. Instituting any of the recommendations of their own group on the subject matter? I don't think so. I want to be wrong, I truly do, but this Conservative Government has and will continue to throw us under the bus, and then try to be our friends again come next election. I have said it before and I will say it again, we need to demand more results from the Government we bought and paid for.
 
BX-50 Packaging?

What does the packaging actually say? Does anyone (or HiCal) care to post a photo of he package? Does it simply read 'BX-50'? Does the packaging state 'Fits 10-22 rifle variants only' as advertised online at HiCal?

If so, I think I would keep that package with me when using the BX-50 mag... just because it says BX-25 on the side does NOT make it a BX-25 prohibited mag, the one piece moulded construction certainly makes it a new/different mag, but the lack of BX-50 printed on the mag itself is rather concerning depending on the law enforcement and/or CFO you may encounter!
 
Supply and demand guys... if you can offer them cheaper, start importing! :) Same reason why KSG's used to sell for $2K in the EE... until supply is increased, they can charge what they want.

Hmmm when I went to return my BX25. I had a little chat with the manger at Basspro. He said the ones they carry are NOT PROHIBITED. What he also told me was that whenever the RCMP makes a certain item Prohibited they get the information right away, so they can remove it from there selves. I was kinda annoyed and pissed at the same time, because I drove 45 min 2 different times to get the damn thing and then the 3rd time to return it.... I am pretty sure BASSPRO doesn't want to be liable and get charged for selling a only $40 item if it was illegal for them to carry?

So, if they are out of the package can someone tell the difference between the apparently NOT PROBHIBITED (according to some retail mgr) from the prohibited? Considering the RCMP specifically list them on their wbesite now as prohibited, I am certainly not willing to take the chance.
