take your pick. set a budget and then deside what power you want. i am a fixed power guy my self. goats hunts can have some stretched shots. i would probly like to have at least 9 power.
3-9 or 4.5-14 would be good options.
I have a leapold fix 10x I mite use, but I have a fix 6x calbrated for 308 but but don't know how that will work
The fix 6x is a sweet scoop made for m14 MILSPECT !
4.5-14x44 Zeiss conquest
On a small rifle you don't want a huge scope, so I would consider a 1.75-6X or a 2.5-8X Leupold. The purpose of the scope's magnification is to see the target, and if you can't see yon goat at 6X, you're too far away.
For realz? Have you ever owned a ruger compact? That scope would be bigger than the F'in rifle!![]()
Why 14X magnification on a rifle that won't break 2800 FPS? I've seen plenty of goats where I spend time, and they're always bigger than they appear on T.V.
Leupold make a very nice 3X9 compact that is quite reasonable and no bigger than a fixed 4X. I believe it's a Vari X II and about 400 bucks. Actually I just checked WSS and they are on sale for 340 bucks right now. I have this scope on 2 rifles and it works well and is light and very compact for the magnification and of coarse Leupold quality and warranty.
