ruger deerfield, any good?

I have a "brand new" 1962 44 tube feed carbine. have 2 boxes of the original NORMA magnum loads. I hand load 240 GR JSP and 240 JHP. mounted an old springfield scope. 3 shot 1 5/8" groups at 100 yards. G reat carbine. was not going to shoot it but figured,i am retired lets just shoot the damn thing. Some problems occured with the tube feed models shooting lead rounds. seems it plugged the gas feed at the working end of barrel. bit of a bear to dismantle.unless hard cast lead bullets are used or history of carbine is known, the gas port should be cleaned. instructions and exploded drawing of carbine can be GOOGLED. i now carry this little gem instead of one of my pump shotguns when prospecting. if one can not get 2 inch groups at 100 yards, make sure the barrel is very clean and play with some handloads. over on th ruger site, some fellows who hunt with them(also carry a super blackhawk revolver) shoot 270 gr.JFP rounds and report them as accurate and powerfull. lots of feral hog hunters.
