Ruger Frontier Rifle in .338 Federal and .358 Winchester!!!

I got a price from Jane at Perry's Gun Shop in Sault Ste. Marie of $1,079.00 and I would have to give a deposit to get it ordered for the new year. I didn't realize that they would be priced that high. I'll have to cash in a few more beer empties than I thought.

Some real competiton for your attention away from that little M600/35Rem you were looking at this week. Very nice - I especially like 358Win version.

They made that target grey frontier model in 325WSM briefly if U can believe it.

I am not too enamoured with the 16 1/2" barrel.

It will certainly be handy, but I can't imagine how LOUDthey will be. :runaway: :dancingbanana:

My 18.5" Carbine .308 is very loud AND a handful at the bench, esp with heavy bullets.

I personally would like to see more than 16.5" of bbl in front on any rifle save a 22lr.

.

Ruger also has come out with their Ruger 77 Alaskan in .375 Ruger with a 20" barrel. That would be a decent brush gun. I think I'd want to load it down quite a bit for using against whitetails in the bush under 100 yards. It looks like it could be quite a versatile calibre.

I have one in .300WSM and its loud but not that bad.. bullet velocities are about the same as a 30:06 from a 24 inch barrel. recoil is not that bad as long as you pull down a bit on the fore end (It's heavier than it looks)-and it defines "handy".. plus below MOA on handloads:D

I missed out on getting the .325 WSM:( Ruger is nor offering any of the WSM's any more -something to do with a lawsuit by the cartridge designers.

I would have to agree with John C. I also have one in 300 WSM. Up until this last deer season I have never fired it without hearing protection. I was also expected to be blinded briefely by the flash if I had to shoot in low light.

It really was not that loud nor did it blind me at all. The flash is a very dull orange and not very bright. It did a great job on the deer as well.

The Frontier rifles do nothing for me, especially it's forward mounted scope is just plan ugly to me...

Now the new Ruger 375 Alaskan rifle is another story....
