I see in the equipment exchange a Ruger GP 100 with a 4.2 inch barrel. What is this, where does it come from? Way back when Bill C-68 came out I thought it would be neat if S&W came out with a 4 1/4 inch revolver. Sort of a middle finger salute from the Canadian gun owner to Allan Rock, has Ruger actually done this? Thanks for any replies.

Some are done by individuals and their gunsmiths, and Ruger ran a small run of Canadian Legal GP100s. Ask the seller which one your is.

Ruger just came out with the 4.2 inch factory version about a year ago. While it meets the Canadian market requirement I believe it was initially directed at Kalifornistan which has similar laws to Canada's. Ruger has a history of trying to accommodate totalitarian markets I understand they even came up with a 17 inch barrelled revolver in the past to meet England's requirements.

A 17" GP100! My god that would be awesome, terrifying and stupid all at the same time.

We (unfortunately it doesn't includes me ;))bought every single one of them that arrived in Canada a little while ago in a matter of days I think. TSE had them and another shop, I contacted TSE last week and they have absolutely no idea when they will have another batch.

I picked up a Redhawk in 44 mag with the 4.2 inch as well.

Search this forum for ruger and you should find the original HUGE thread.

You could have just asked me via PM as that is my gun in EE.

It is all original and stock Ruger - new model. These will be pretty hard to find on the shelf. I had to order mine and wait for almost 3 months. But now stores won't even accept preorders.

BTW - TSE has 4.2" Redhawks in stock !
