Ruger gp 100 4.2"

I like mine. Haven't shot it much, but it looks and feels great.

Hard to find. There's one on the EE albeit a bit spendy.

All the distributors I've talked to say they're getting them soon but who knows? I wanted a 6" so it didn't matter to me.

After lots of research the gp100 (in whatever barrel length) is a solid choice. Mine should be here monday!

I guess I got stupid lucky...called up Wolverine on Wednesday and was put on a back-order list for a 4.2" SS - got the call yesterday (Thurs) that they got some in stock and now she's on the way!!! As of yesterday afternoon they had one left. I can't wait!

Nice

3000 + rounds through her, great, accurate gun.
Shooting SSR in IDPA this year with it.
Installed a HiViz front sight, big differance in aquiring the front sight quicker

Impressive! Can't wait to get mine. Curious, what kind of grips are you running and which speed loader(s) are you using? I heard some speed loaders don't work well with the stock hogue grip? I am interested in the Safariland Comp II's as they have lots in stock at my local shop.

Speedloaders

Using the Hogue grip that came with it. My Comp III's are a little tight against the grip, but I'm gonna remove a small portion of the grip, see if that improves my speed loading.

Well, my GP100 4.2" stainless experience ends up bittersweet...I received mine a couple days ago but was just not happy with the fit and finish and ended up sending her back today. I realize these are workhorses and not "beauty queens" but I compared her to a 6" stainless at a local shop and the difference was like night and day. Damn you Ruger Quality Assurance! Call me overly picky but I expect more for my hard-earned bucks. 7 bills is still 7 bills! I did love how she felt in my hands though. I will wait for a better one. Patience is a virtue I guess...boo. Good thing I didn't buy those .357 snap caps, haha! For all you current owners, how's the fit and finish on yours?

I'll let you know tomorrow when it comes in the mail (according to Canada post)

That scratch on the barrel is nasty, the others.. meh.. I would end up doing anyways.

what's this GP100's competition? any other DA 38/357 with a 4.2-4.5 barrel? or is this pretty well the only thing available up here?
