I've managed to aquire a S.S. 6" Ruger GP100. It was very lightly used and the price was just too good. This is my first restricted firearm so I'm covering new territory as far as regulations and paper go. The people I purchased this firearm from were really helpful and made the paper work painless. I wasn't sure going in what to expect but so far it has been very good. I can't wait to give the GP 100 a try. It will be a better shooter than I am for a while but I hope to get on target fairly quickly ( here's hoping). One thing I will be looking to modify is the front sights. Something that stands out a bit better than a pain black post might be helpful. Guess I'll see when the time comes to try it out.

Just got back from the range, my first time shooting it after owning it for over a month.

That's with Winchester Whitebox, .357 Magnum, 110 grain, semi-jacketed hollow point @ 7 yards, offhand, indoors. It shoots better than I currently can.

Love my GP-100. Very well made and shoots nice.

Found the front sight to be a pain in the arse so I put on a Hi-Viz fiberoptic front sight.

It is just as easy as they say push down the plunger in the muzzle with a punch and pull of the old one with your fingers and drop in the new one. Good to go.

I ordered it direct through Hi-viz's web site 54 dollars to my door.

Thats what my last target looked like as well.

Nice shooting!

Thanks for the pictures. Very nice groupings!

Sounds like the sight upgrade should be fairly uncomplicated thanks for the info!!

I find the factory front sight to be a little too chubby....how are the Hi-viz front sights for width?

I've taken mine out twice now and have realized that it's a keeper for sure. Very accurate for the price I paid.

Gp100

I bought one when they came out and thought it was great untill I shot the S&W 686 in the same caliber (357 mag 6" barrel) The GP100 felt like sand paper in the trigger compared to the buttry trigger on the 686. I hope this was changed, but try to get a hand on a S&W and compare. Plus I found I could only shoot 38 special accuratly. Good luck with your Ruger.

Ive owned both, the smith has the better trigger out of the box for sure but both are great guns.

I have a Smith model 14. I love it but wanted a shorter barrel, so I got the Ruger.

The Ruger is heavier than my Smith but has had a trigger job and is more of a bullseye gun. The Ruger is my IPSC/IDPA style gun.

Maybe it is me but I am a sucker for the revolvers.

If that was the one that was out at Pullens [briefly] then yeah you scored well.

It will be a great shooter.

Personally, I prefer a solid black front site on my wheelguns. Something like the "Patridge" stye front site common on the older S&W's.

Yes Sir, that is in fact the one I'm referring to. I'm not sure how long it was at PGSing. When I heard about it I got there as quick as I could. Standing at the door pacing at 0930hrs knowing they don't open till 1000hrs. Purchase made at 1001hrs. The good folks at Pullen's Gunsmithing were really helpful and made a newbie feel right at home. Hopefully the paper end of the transaction will be completed sometime this week.

I'm excited :dancingbanana:

I picked up the GP 100 yesterday and now the only thing left to do is wait for the LTATT. Hopefully that won't take very long. Again Pullen's made this transaction go very smoothly. Big thumbs up to them.
