Wifey wants this gun. Everything I have read seems to point to this being a solid reliable firearm. Does anyone have one or has anyone shot one? Opinions? TIA

I have one and it is my favorite handgun. Accurate and solid... and did I mention "Accurate" :D
Hogue rubber finger groove grips are recommended for shooting .357 full loads as the gun tends to slip due to the recoil with the factory grips. Oh, and I swaped the hammer and trigger springs with Wilson Combat reduced load springs.
My buddy claims it now shoots better than his Python.

I have to second Griffoneurs points.

I have a 4 inch stainless model.

It is by far the most accurate revolver or handgun that I have ever shot. I too have the hogue rubber grips.

Great choice.

Gp100

Wifey know what she wants. I have a 4" GP100 that like others have stated, is a tack driver. Although I'm a big fan of S&W's, I wouldn't trade this GP for a Smith. The trigger is stock but it is also very smooth, smoother than a few K-frames that I've had, which are known for the best out of the box triggers. The stock grip is perfect, at least for me, balance is superb and it's a durable gun that will last forever. Finally, used prices don't reflect the actual value, they are underpriced.

Don Hume makes nice holsters for a 6" GP-100 (If you were wondering about usage in IDPA and similar shooting disciplines.)

I use a GP-100 and suffice to say that If I could find a decent drop leg platform for it, I'd use it in 3 gun matches :)

I've had my 4" since the GP first came to Canada. It's the only revolver I've ever had that did not need a change of grips to fit my hand. A trigger job is required. That's not a big deal though. It's easily done. All the internal parts are SS and polish nicely. You can change the spring too if you want. Helps make the DA smoother and lighter.
Make sure your wife knows they're heavy too.
"...find a decent drop leg platform for it..." Make your own. Tandy's sells a holster making book(How to Make Practical Pistol Leather, by J. David McFarland) with a "Poor Man's Border Patrol" holster pattern for a 6" S&W M-19 that easily adapted to a GP.

My friend bought a brand new stainless 6" at a local gun shop last week. He paid 550 plus taxes and I think it is a very good deal. The trigger is heavy but the gun is very solid. I have too many revolvers otherwise I would buy one as well.

I love my 6" S/S GP, solid, reliable and accurate. I think they are around 650.00 new and parts are available from a place in Quebec (new ones too)...Can't go wrong with this gun!

I am not grand-fathered but I like a 4" revolver. Is it a good idea to buy a new GP100 6" to cut down to 106 mm ? Did anybody do it before ? I need some inputs. Thanks.
