ruger gp100 bbl lug

I'm picking up one of these from a member.... I've wanted one for a while....what's the conventional wisdom regarding the full-length under barrel lugs, vs the shorter lugs?

Although heavier, some say the full length lug helps with recoil mgmt, but is less accurate than the shorter lugs?

The lug has nothing to do with accuracy. The ammo used and the trigger do. If it hasn't had a trigger job, do one. Then work up a load for it the same as you do for any firearm.

All the lug is there for is weight. It may reduce recoil a bit but not that much.

I have owned and shot both. I couldnt tell the differance between the two.

Full lug looks better. More balanced. Half lug looks stupid.

I own a 686, and I've NEVER seen a half lug revolver that I think looks acceptable.

Personally, I like the looks of the half lug better.

Otherwise, unless I was planning to do a lot of pistol whipping, I don't think it matters.
