The N-frame guns are pretty grossly overbuilt for .357. With the barrel contour they were made with, they weigh about the same as an L-frame with a lugged barrel.
Even the L-frames should stand up well to any safe .357 load.
K-frame guns are definitely best suited to mostly .38 with occasional .357 usage.
Besides aesthetics, the greatest functional advantage of the S&Ws is their double action trigger. Even with an action job, the Ruger won't be quite as good.
Just bought a used GP100 last night that has a Wilson Combat spring kit and it is much better than the stock springs. I shot the guys Campbell PPC pistol made on a S&W Model 10 which has the smoothest DA trigger I have ever felt. The GP100 is a blued model which I prefer and I like the looks of it, except the insert grips which I will probably change with some Hogue grips. It shoots great and I like the balance, the weight of it will help with the .357 loads. There my two cents worth.
Thank you,,,,,, I almost sold the High Power, but changed my mind I would have kicked my self later. I have one more I would like to add ,,,I want a CZ SP01 Shadow
