Ruger Gunsight Scout Rifle Raven on Stock

The Canadian version has a few differences as I've been lead to believe. Stainless steel barrel, +2 inch barrel length,

who was the moron who decided the Canadian model should have an 18.5" barrel?
Ruger Frontiers, Compacts have 16.5" barrels and have been available on the Canadian market (NR) for many years.

So how good do you think this will be for hunting?
get a Ruger Frontier instead :)

Without the flash hider the over all length is the same with the longer barrel and you get a slight velocity gain......not the worst deal ever made.

Hungsolo- as a dedicated hunting rifle, the X-bolt is the better choice.

If you want a fun gun that does lots of things from plinking, hiking with, hunting, range days and such then look at the Ruger GSR.

Akin to "expert vs jack of all trades" GSR does lots of things well but none perfectly.

Well it does; forward rail, nice detachable peep sight and10 round detachable mag perfectly....:D
OK maybe the 10 round mag could have been double stack..;)

Perfect hunting rifle is different for everyone...what I'm saying is it does some things perfectly as opposed to the idea that it does nothing perfectly.

If a guy wants a 10 round detachable mag or a nice factory peep setup then the Frontier is not really an option.

I've got a frontier in .308 that I like a lot, but I can see a Scout in the stable at some point.

Thanks. I didn't think that asking about a scout rifle for hunting on a scout rifle thread would warrant such a response.

Actually it is about the Gunsite logo on the Scout Rifle. Specifically the question was who has it on their gun and who not. As the O.P. I think I know what the topic is - no hijacking please, you should start or continue on the other threads which cover that topic.

the Scout lost me at:

-plastic magwell/release/triggerguard/bottom 'metal'
-not M14 mags but some proprietary crap
-not CRF

i had high hopes for it. all steel, 16.5" barrel, M14 mags, better rear sight and id have bought two. as it stands i dont think it is all its cracked up to be, and i would not trade one of my Frontiers for one.
i am glad it exists though, and is doing well - since itll encourage more 'scout' style rifles from other manufacturers which is a good thing for everyone.
