I am in the process of removing the front site from my gunsite. I have the roll pin removed but am not sure if the front site assembly is friction fit and pushed on, or if it is threaded on. Anyone know ?

Why are you removing the front sight? I like the looks of it myself.

Regarding your question, I don't know for sure, but on the older open sight M77 MKII's they were epoxied in place I believe.

I am mounting a conventional scope and have no real use for the sights. Just something else to snag.

It seems as though the gunsite uses the same sights as a mini 14. Apparently, the sight is friction fit, and just needs a good smack. If the sight is epoxied, I am not sure if I should be heating first ?

I've never pounded one off the new ruger scout rifle...though I've pounded a lot of them off various mini 14s. The ruger act rifle I handled did indeed have the same front sight as those themini 14, so I'd bet their installation method is the same.on the mini14 hey arenustnpressed on...sometimes quite tightly.

Cheers,

Brobee
