Ruger just announced production of the above-mentioned toy. Anyone interested? Personally, I'm curious as to the thought processes that led to the Bushmaster rather than the .458 Socom, which looks like a superior cartridge in many ways.

I was considering building a .458 Socom on an extra Rem700 action I have...but I'm put off by the expense and hassle of doing so, only to end up with a gun that I'll probably play with and soon decide to sell. A factory offering would be way less trouble and would probably be easier to move down the road when the time comes.

Any comments on this new gun?

Part of me wants one, the other part of me has a ballistically identical 454 casull rifle already.

I think a lever may be a better package for this sort of cartridge anyways.

Like the .45's but I would just make reduced loads for my bolt-action .458 Win. Mag. or .458 Lott if I thought there's a need to do that.

The exception is that I have an H&R Survivor .410 shotgun which has a rifled barrel to also fire .45 Colt.

The Ranch sure looks like a handy package, although the American series aren't CRF actions, which is pretty attractive in the Scout, at least for me, as I prefer CRF hunting rifles.
