Can’t find anything online. Anybody knows how much a long action Ruger M77 MKII/Hawkeye weighs? The action only. Thanks

Mine are all assembled, so can't help with the receiver weight... they aren't light, but action weight and even the total weight has never been a consideration for me, as I don't care for Ultralight rifles... but I get the attraction. I have used Stainless Mark II receivers for my last several builds.Screenshot_20240819_061708_Gallery.jpg

The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of lightening up my .35 Whelen by using the Bevan King barrel that's on the MKII and spinning it on a Tikka. Same thread size and pitch. Likely would have to touch up the chamber and headspace but I've grown pretty fond of Tikka's smoothness and detachable mags.

Gross... have another cup of coffee and sit in your recliner and ponder the important things of life... then get up and go and shoot your Ruger.

FYI- i rekon the weight of the Rugers are in the Bolts aswell yeah, much like an Abolt,.... the Bolt itself weighs the Tonne.

thats what caught me out on the Ruger initially,,,,, hold gun in shop no bolt...... nah feels nice.
nek minit LOL

that stuffin around wit hthe Abolt....to make it 300grams lighter for $300 or some schit, really needs a bit of thinning in the bolt department .

Will you have to set back the barrel enough to get rid of the extractor cut?

I’d say go for it

Actually, that's where the wheels started turning. I never realized and like you assumed there was an extractor cut but there's none!

I just sent another Tikka to be re-barreled in 6.5 PRC, when it comes back, unless the gunsmith says it can't be done for some reason I think I'll send the other one!

I'm still keeping my Hawkeye Alaskan in .375 Ruger. My Whelen is on an early push feed stainless MKII, the action is nothing special but the stainless Bevan King barrel is awesome. I won't tell you what my .223 Rem is.....

Oh, a push feed, I see... butcher away!

I have had a few of the early PF Mark II's... all.by accident.

Same here. I had that one for a couple years when I read about those PF MKII’s. Just for fun I pulled mine out of the safe and……son of a #####!!

I just keep forgetting to ask when I am buying a '90 or '91 Mark II... got nailed three or four times. The stock inletting is totally different aswell, although with a Dremel and a little patience it can be made to fit a CRF Mark II.

I like it!
I had the first Cooper rifle made in 35 whelen
Sold it as it was too heavy! I loved everything about the rifle except the weight. It needed to be 2lbs lighter.
I like rugers for their robustness and strength, but find them heavy as well.
