Recently purchased a new Ruger Hawkeye rifle and find it doesn't want to eject the spent cartridge all the time, seems like if you don't pull the bolt back exactly straight it doesn't allow the ejection pin to ride up in the milled slot of the bolt to eject the casing.I phoned Ruger and all the tell me is to ship it to Quebec for warranty but I argue that this is a serious design flaw and really don't know if they could fix it .The bolt has way too much play in it,short of milling out the bolt slot another 1/8" I just don't know...

Anyone else have this problem? Or a fix?

A pal of mine has several hundred rounds down the pipe of his Ruger Alaskan without issue thus far. Because the action is control round feed, there is no spring to eject the round, so the harder you pull the bolt rearwards, the more force there is in ejection. If the bolt is properly riding in its recess, I'm not sure how the case would fail to eject, unless the ejector itself is damaged or somehow out of alignment. Perhaps the bolt was not indexed properly when the recess for the ejector was cut, in which case it would be a warranty issue.
