Ruger M77 Compact in 7.62x39 - Targets posted now!

I would definetly be interested in seeing results with .308 dia bullets. If they shoot good it would add to the versatility of the rifle. Although with all the surplus I have for practice and the Barnes TSX avail for the 7.62x39 for hunting I doubt I would need to load anything else.

Most people do not seem to be able to differentiate between "bore" diameter and "groove" diameter. This Ruger will have a .310 "groove" diameter. The bore is quite likely somewhere between .300" and .302" I would suspect that 308 diameter bullets will shoot quite well in this one, since the nominal bore diameter for 308 bullets is .300" and the groove diamter is .308" Plus or minus .002" seldom causes much problems with accuracy in jacketed bullets, although pressures may be affected a small amount. Regards, Eagleye.

Good point on the groove vs bore dia. I had a No4 MKI made by Savage with a 2 groove barrel. The grooves measured .310 and the bore .302. It shot .308 dia. bullets very well.
