Has anyone tried one of these rifles out? Particularly a scoped model? I'm wondering about the small size being a concern when mounting a decent scope. Especially as the stock itself has been shortened, not just the barrel. I think it may be a fun little rifle in .308.

Cheers.

Purchased a Frontier model not too long ago, they are very similar. Frontier has a barrel mounted ring base and can also mount traditional method.

Mine is .308 and is a great little unit. Bought it for the wife and she really likes it.

I had one in 7mm-08 with the laminate stock .... very nice. I had a silver Bushnell 3200 3-9x40 mounted on it, worked great.

wish I still had it. I wish I could find one in 223 or 22-250 as well.

I have 2 Frontiers 7-08 2-7x leopold VX11 and a .358 VX111 2.5-8x both shoot and handle like a dream:D:D

Thanks guys, good enough. Nice pic too, I like the Ruger laminate stocks quite a bit. A 2.5-8x should be good enough for me. Some might say a .308 is small for moose, and I bet that's been argued to death on here, but I think that will make a pretty slick little moose gun for where I'm located. Easy to carry and transport in float planes and boats.

...to the gun shop.

Bought one in .223 from wholesale in Edmt. Mounted a Bushnell 6-18 X 40 on it. Might look a little strange; big scope/small gun. Gophers at 120-130m, coyotes much further. I really think it's the handiest gun I own, and am now thinking about one in .308 for deer season.

I doubt many around here will say 308 is small for moose.

Eventually I want one of these in 7-08 for deer and moose.

I saw they offer the 6.8 spc in them. I figured that would be ideal first gun for my boys even if they work up bigger. Now to find one.

I've got one in laminated stainless...7mm-08...just like the one in surfer365's pic. I have it scoped with a burris 3-9....it handles and shoots flawlessly...I love it

I found the compact 7mm-o8 recoil with factory 140's to be pretty light -at least for me- compared to a regular wood stocked 308 using 180s. The laminated stock is heavier than it looks. The stock design is really nice - it mainly goes straight back, hardly any muzzle climb. Supposedly the latest ( Hawkeye) versions are even better.
