Ruger M77, have some questions.

With respect to the all weather, how is the plastic stock??? Is it flimsy or pretty solid as injection moulds go??

if the stock was dropped and an after market one dropped in, would the weight drop enough to make it a lighter rifle??

Cheers

SS

The plastic stock on the all weather is pretty decent. I like the feel of the stock at the trigger hand. It is nice and narrow. The barrel is not free floating, but the stock is stiff enough that this isn't an issue. Aside from the heavy trigger, which is easily fixable, these are really solid guns, and attractive with that classic mauser look.

I hunt with a 30-06 ruger m77 mark2.
Shot out the first barrel at the range at around 2500 rounds.hot hunting loads.
Rifling looked ok but it started to open up groups.
I have had it rebarreled and the accuracy is excellent.
When it was in for the barrel i had the trigger done.
The trigger work made a big difference it is crisp at 3 pounds.
The saftey on the ruger is second to none.It is the reason i went with one for hunting.
From my experience the rugers are a tuff reliable firearm with a great saftey.
If the trigger is not good it can be gunsmithed to work very well.
The reason a spent the money fixing my 30-06 up instead of buying a new rifle is that i trust the rifle beyond question.
I have always had good luck with ruger products. have 10-22 and mini 30 as well.
Good luck with your rugers i do not think you can go wrong.

Ruger firearms

I currently own a M. 77 stainless/synthetic in .22 Mag.......very nice gun, smooooth action, and accurate.

I also have a Ruger Alaskan in .375 Ruger.....completely satisfied with it.

I also have a Mk. 111 .22 pistol, and two Super Blackhawks in .44 Mag...

No complaints..

I never had much luck with my Ruger, but it appears as though it may have been a "made on Friday afternoon" gun.

I've never heard of a Ruger breaking. I've seen some that haven't shot that great (including my own) but by most accounts the new Hawkeyes are great shooters and dead reliable.

I think if my own experience had been a bit better then I'd probably own several. I love the scope mounting system. I love the CRF even if it's not required. The new stocks fit me as well as anything else.

If they made a wood/blue M77 in 6.5x55mm I would most likely own one.

I have owned both the mark I & II, like them both.
But prefer the look and finish of the mark I.
My 77 shot like absolute crap reguardless of what I loaded it!
(1.5-3") at 100. Yuck!

So a friend and I built a 25-06 barrel for it, 26", fluted, 416SS.
Now it shoots sub MOA on a regular basis. Love it! I now have 4.

I have not seen the Mark I's shoot very good with the factory barrels.

Mine shoots 0.75MOA with its best loads, and just over MOA with most. Thats perfectly acceptable as a hunting rifle

The only thing weak is your reasoning.
